In the manufacturing industry, the production process and the equipment used are changing every day. The layout of the warehouse is also changing with the upgrading of the industry. Maybe your company was originally just a small startup, with supporting equipment mainly small semi-automatic simple equipment and sufficient warehouse space. But as the business continues to grow, the available space is getting smaller and smaller, and the original single-layer stacking mode can only be upgraded to double-layer stacking or multi-layer stacking. In order to cope with the huge production capacity, the supporting equipment is also forced to change to large-scale automated equipment. But these changes have brought troubles to the original packaging equipment, and many machines cannot match the new layout. This includes stretch wrappers.
Purchasing a new stretch wrapper is a feasible solution, but this will inevitably lead to an overspending on our equipment investment budget. Modifying the original stretch wrapper is also a good solution, which can easily and cheaply solve the dilemma of the original stretch wrapper being unable to be used in the new environment.
The Most Popular Modification Solutions for Turntable Pallet Wrapping Machine
- Mast height extension – The mast of the standard pallet wrapping machine is 2.4 meters, which can wrap goods up to 80 inches. But for double stacked goods, this height seems too restrictive. We can extend the height of the mast without changing the machine turntable, allowing the wrapping height to reach up to 140 inches.
- Add a ramp – The standard turntable pallet stretch wrapper requires a forklift to transfer the goods to the machine’s turntable. But if we need to use the pallet truck to place the goods on the turntable instead, we need to extend a flat extension on the edge of the turntable and connect a ramp. This allows us to use the pallet truck to push the goods from the ground to the machine’s turntable. Depending on the layout of your workshop facilities, this ramp can be placed in front of or on both sides of the turntable.
- Chassis extension – The standard turntable pallet wrapping machine has a turntable with a diameter of 1.65 meters, which can easily handle all standard pallets within 1.2*1.2 meters. But if we need to use a large non-standard pallet to load the goods, the load may collide with the machine’s mast when rotating, causing damage to the machine and collapse of the goods. Without changing the mast and turntable, we can choose to extend the chassis of the machine. The extension of the base will create more space between the load and the mast. This way, the load will not hit the mast when it rotates. Of course, this solution can only be adopted if the size of the load slightly exceeds the packaging range of the machine. If the size of the pallet or the goods is oversized, we recommend using a larger turntable. After all, the safest operation is to keep the load within the perimeter of the turntable.
Change is inevitable. Since it is bound to happen, we should face the problem and actively look for solutions. Modification is a reliable way to extend the life of an existing stretch wrapper at a relatively small cost.
